March 21, 2020 Sonko
Haven't been updating..so much going on with the Covid19 Pandemic. Alameda County and 5 other counties on Shelter in place per the California health department then the Gov gave an order for all of California to stay at home (not as stringent as the health departments but very close).
Today sonko acted like he wanted to go outside (1st time in days) I carried him down the steps and he just followed me ..meandering around. Sassy and Zara tried to get him to play ball. He declined. He just wanted to stand/lean against me. Then I carried him back up. Sponge bath and fresh diaper
And walked him to his blanket.
I held the water bowl up for him. He kept falling over trying to drink
This is what I posted in the FaceBook group "Peruvian DNA Results" page:
Was going to do a necropsy on my Sonko..but that has changed now. The Vet hospital that does this service has shut down completely due to the COVID19. I am taking Sonko to the his Neurologist on Monday (March 23, 2020)who will take blood, urine; then euthanize. afterwards take spinal fluid. Sending samples to a research vet who said he was interested in Sonko's case. Then if needed, Zara (my daughters dog) can give samples of blood etc. Again if needed, Sally said she can send blood. Lets see if the samples Sonko can provide is enough for now. Sorry if this post is not very clear..having a few drinks and started the mourning of my beloved Sonko...Heart Breaker.

Sonko's neuro vet said he found some studies on ( as he said) "Mexican Hairless" dogs having a neurodegenerative disease and a test for them (on sites he has access to) He thought maybe that might be a help if they already found it in M.H. (is that the same as the Xolo;s) or it might not be. Has anyone heard or read about Xolo's having that in their lines and a test for it? (there are several diseases under the name neurodegenerative - (vet said the parts of Sonko's brain that are affected is/looks like Lysosomal storage disease)
